Illuminating the horizon #7
Fall be kind: recent releases, weeds, Lapsus memoriae and other sounds
Recent releases
I am very grateful to have had three cassette releases put out over the last few months by some wonderful labels.
A huge thank you goes to Square Ears, Human Geography Recordings and Falt for the great support and finding a home for my sounds. I highly recommend checking out their back catalogues and supporting the labels in which ever ways you can.
Human Condition
Carving a dusty path through noise concrète furrows and warped country loops, in a nowhere place between Dilloway and Van Zandt, where the land has been worked hard and its denizens worked harder, is a town called Human Condition.
Human Condition is available from Square Ears on limited edition cassette, with booklet, 3x postcards and digital download.
Anamnesis
The two side-long compositions of Anamnesis attempts to capture the overflowing senses related to postmemory experience, across a migratory suite of electronic textures, musique concrète and turntable inspired manipulation.
Anamnesis is available from Human Geography Recordings on very limited edition cassette and digital download.
mapwork
mapwork collects four mind maps across various physical and emotional terrain.
mapwork is available from Falt on limited edition cassette and digital download.
Compilations
I’ve been really pleased to contribute tracks to three new awesome compilations. Thank you very much to Histamine Tapes, Brachliegen Tapes and Wormhole World for inviting me to contribute.
Teyr Stone Fractuur is out now appearing on Antihistamine 2023 [Histamine Tapes]. The instructions were to make music using the sound of rocks. To make that sound prominent and no synth.
isolation verses appears on Request Stop [Brachliegen Tapes] which is available to pre-order in CD and digital versions on Bandcamp.
Request Stop is a 16 track compilation loosely based around the theme of bus travel and its related infrastructure. All proceeds from this release will be donated to the Autonomous Winter Shelter, a housing network and mutual aid initiative who aim to provide a safe and warm space for people to stay, create, and take care of themselves and others within a community environment.
isolation verses features processed Cornish bus route field recordings, text to speech recitals of local news coverage, original poem fragments, and spoken word excerpts of Jim Murdoch's poems Bus and Driver.
Two pieces will appear on A Wormhole Xmas 2023 [Wormhole World], available on limited edition triple CD and digital. Till Dawnlight Blurs and And All's Erased are loop-based studies inspired by Robert Turman.
